Section 88 Highlighted Verses
For intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things (D&C 88:40).
Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand. That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you (D&C 88:78, 80).
And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yeah, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by
faith (D&C 88:118).

What is the Apocrypha?
The books of the Apocrypha are of Jewish origin, and they were circulated in Palestine at the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament periods. The original texts and subsequent early copies vanished in Palestine so that only Greek and Latin copies survived for more than a millennium. For various reasons the books of the Apocrypha were not included in the Hebrew canon, established by the third century AD. However, it would be incorrect to believe that some of the books of the Apocrypha were never considered as inspired or authoritative (canonical) by groups of Jews during this period.
Fragment of the Septuagint from the second century B.C.
The following books were not included in the later canon of the Hebrew scriptures, but today most of them are included in Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox and Slavonic Bibles, and are printed in a separate section of many Protestant Bibles called "the Apocrypha."

Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you whom I love, and whom I love I also chasten that their sins may be forgiven, for with the chastisement I prepare a way for their deliverance in all things out of temptation, and I have loved you. Wherefore, ye must needs be chastened and stand rebuked before my face; for ye have sinned against me a very grievous sin, in that ye have not considered the great commandment in all things, that I have given unto you concerning the building
of mine house (D&C 95:1–3).
